They are trying to overcome the stigma of the marriage (which is not forbidden explicitly, but is definitely considered weak) by insinuating that they are in some way suffering or being persecuted in their marriage-thus removing the stigma and inviting the crown of martyr to be offered to them.

Then you would see those same persons at the movies holding hands with their non-jw spouse having a great time, or they would relate the great vacation they had in the Bahamas and all the unrestrained sex that the non-jw spouse likes to engage in----- while the single lonely sisters perished in their pioneer work.

I guarantee you if by some freaking chance I strike it big again and I meet someone and she wants to get married, I will make sure I get a pre-nup and consult a lawyer to make sure it stands up in court.
But as of this moment, I don't feel the necessity of getting married. I had a great marriage for almost 30 years, I don't think that comes around a second time.
how many times have elders read their bible in its entirety?
these are the leaders that give counsel to married couples, to teenagers, to single girls and single boys on everything from marriage, education, sex, association, dress, and recreation..
how well do they know their bible?

And one more thing, I’m seeing the Spanish JWS going door to door in my street. They work my street every single week. Last I heard there are between 80-120 Spanish Congregations in this City and the one that borders it. Today I saw some newbies - young Spanish girls still in their 20s. Wow are they gorgeous. In the same street are several middle age men in their late 30s and 40s that I knew and are drooling over these sisters. They always skip my place. I keep the fence locked and most of them know I am a witness.
I feel sorry for those beautiful young girls wasting their youth hoping one of those middle age men with a pot belly and just enough hair for a comb-over ---------will show them some interest.

I know it sounds crazy, but that kind of stuff is normal where I grew up, El Paso Tx/Juarez Mexico. You have to experience it to believe.

Now It's a place where Americans don't visit unless they are unaware of the danger. But prostitution, drug lords, and transgender activities which are dangerous for them, still flourish.
I heard that elder/woman is still giving talks at conventions.
even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?

Yes. And from this vantage point in my life as an inactive ex-JW who is not DFed- I can still have hope to eventually get one or both of my adult daughters out of the JW cult - with time and patience. I have all the time in the world now to do it right , correctly, and with patience. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Yes it was damm worth it.
I lost all my friends that I built up over a lifetime. I lost a great woman of almost 30 years and we had a great marriage. I lost a great life style, a big home, and about a million dollars in the bank went to legal fees for the divorce and unbeknown to me, hundreds of thousands went to the Watchtower. And now I am living in a small apartment about 500 square-ft. And it’s hard to build up another large group of friends at this late point in my life.
But once you get through the hell of knowing you were scammed and a victim of a cult, the feelings and emotions of the freedom you now have are indescribable.
I need to have a measure of truth in my life. I could never go back to the WT and live a lie. Even if I would get back everything I’ve lost, I just couldn’t go back.

just glad not to be going to the Kingdom Hall every other day and twice on the weekend. Add in the time lost in Elders meetings, working on the kingdom hall, doing the lawn maintenance etc, and building other peoples kingdom halls. The time that the religion consumes is just unbelievable.
Was it worth it? …... No god and no justice and no afterlife.
My advice to you is;
That’s an assumption that you can’t proof absolutely and never will in this lifetime. So it really doesn’t matter if you do believe or don’t believe or don’t give a hoot.
Once I realized that we will never know those things you mentioned, I stopped searching for A complete answer. Then my life started getting better mentally and emotionally. Now I can concentrate on my physical well being.
Things do get better with time and a little effort.
